History
In 2004, The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia was instrumental in bringing together a range of key organisations from across the UK who work in the field of aphasia, and as a result Aphasia Alliance was formed.
The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia was founded by Robin Tavistock, the 14th Duke of Bedford. His personal experience following a stroke and subsequent aphasia left him in no doubt about the difference that intensive and long term speech and language therapy can make.
The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia is the only grant-making trust in the UK that focuses solely on aphasia. Its aim is to see effective therapy available for all who have aphasia and adequate support for their families and friends, as well as more creative research in the sphere of aphasia.
The Aphasia Alliance is primarily funded by The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia and the logo was kindly donated by designer Benjamin Shine.
